When I have the services console (services.msc) open, most of the descriptors for the services read:

Quote
<Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 2 >

A quick Google lead me to this page:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/failed-to-read-description-error-code-2

I did what is suggested (added the registry key), and the problem was fixed. The issue was actually fixed instantly, no reboot required, which was nice :). Maybe that could be an additional fix you could add to your excellent program.

Thanks!

I did a google search on that and nothing from MS tells anything about it. But all across the net that little regkey has helped fix a lot of things, so it is going into the program :-)

I will add it to the restore important services repair, I need to see which versions of Windows it is used for as well :-)

What version of Windows are you on?

I'm running Windows 8.1, but I believe the fix also applies to at least Windows 8 as well.

Looks like it is in 7 and vista as well :-)

I have added it to that repair in the program and will be in the next update.
