chk dsk do it
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:45:54 AM »
From inside I ran check disk. It found errors so I selected :sarcastic: do it.

I know check disk can take a long time, but the screen is frozen on the home screen with the icon in the task bar .... I think it's running: can I stop it, should I stop it, what if it's in an endless loop?

Ctl alt del. & ctl c. Have no effect....  it's only been a couple of hours but I am a little worried, if I shut it down will my disc be damaged?

My program just calls the chkdsk in windows itself. My program isnt doing the chkdsk

But if the program froze when it was doing a read only chkdsk on the drive then it is possible you simply have bad sectors on the drive and when chkdsk hit it it froze up my program since my program was piped to it to watch the status.

I would do a bad sector check on the drive to be safe.
