Deleting Microsoft Defective Updates
« on: September 02, 2014, 06:42:54 am »
I have learned that MS has released several defective updates that create issues with some Apps.  In particular with an app I use daily called Ninja Trader.  Here is a thread from an announcement made in a pertinent Forum: " Open the Programs and Features item in Control Panel, and then click View installed updates. Find and then uninstall any of the following update that are currently installed:
KB2982791
KB2970228
KB2975719
KB2975331
Restart the computer.
"
My "Programs and Features" does NOT list these updates, does that mean I don't have them?  Or, does it mean I have to dig a different way to find them?
Thanks.

In Programs and Features you will see the link for View Installed updates in the top left pane.

If it isn't then go Start - type installed updates then press enter.

Generally just uninstalling KB2982791 may do it but if you uninstall all of the listed and reinstall each one back at a time - except the 2791 one and then see if any affect Ninja Trader or cause any other problems.

MS released KB2993651 which is a replacement for 2791, which MS advises to uninstall before installing the patch.

Just doing that may resolve any problems as those MS listed updates haven't caused problems for everyone.

Try a restore point to before the updates and click on Scan for affected programs.

So no installed updates show up at all?

You can also remove an update from the cmd.exe

Thanks Shane,  I checked twice and I don't see the updates.  May be because I have a 64 bit System?
I will study the link you sent me and see if is actionable in my machine.
