MzRegistry backup
« on: April 23, 2012, 12:04:37 pm »
Hello
I hope I copied the link properly. Has anyone had any experience with this program. I am looking for simplicty but reliabiity for Win 7 x64.
Maybe a weekly backup and before uninstaling programs etc. ,would be peace of mind if it is reliable.
Thank you
Peter

Make sure to post in the right section of the forum

I moved the topic for you :-)

I have never used it myself and it doesnt look like it has very many good reviews.

Why not use the reg backup I use in my programs?

Sorry about the misplacement.
I have beeen reading about Erunt for sooooo long. There are videos on Google but there seems to be some issue with  Win x64  that were not present when it was in its hay day. I read the work arounds but was looking for simplicity.
IThink you can not install the scheduling and perform an automatic backup , or, get into scheduling and adjust it to backup when you want.
Is this true, you can download it and click on Erunt and the backup is done - when you want to recover, go to ERDNT and click on that to recover the date you want. They are in different folders by defaut.
Erunt's advantage is that it backs up more of the registry than Windows?
Thank you
Peter
P.S. I thought I posted in the Windows forum -no?

You posted in feedback, I moved it to computer help :-)

You can make a bat file that runs erunt with the commands you want then use the windows task scheduler to schedule the bat file

There are lots of programs, erunt is just free.

I should consider making one of my own :-)

Feedback -OMG! Double sorry!
Make your own and you'll own the world because ERUNT is so old and needs so many modifications for average guys like nyself. You mention bat and command and I get nervous.
Make an updated ERUNT that the aaverage guy can use and you will be popular, for sure.!

I just have to find a good way to backup all the keys and files.

Could use the volume shadow copy service to try and backup the actual reg files. That service lets you copy files that are in use.

hhhmmm worth a shot! When I have more free time I will see what I can come up with. No promises though lol

I wish you luck for you and many others but I understand about promises. I'm sure you have nothing else to do?
Ever talk with David P. in England? He is active in Major Geeks and  knows Tim.
He is extremely interesting and is doing a great job with pcs and eye disease at Royal London Hosp.
