Blue Screen on reboot
« on: November 11, 2014, 12:29:20 pm »
Using windows 8.1.  I had used this program on another program and it worked fine.  On my HP Envy touchscreen, it ran through the windows 8.1 repair modules (I was having difficulty reading news articles from the metro page), rebooted, and now just hangs before loading windows (no mouse or keyboard movement).  I cannot even reboot in safe mode, and the restore to the previous registry failed.  Any ideas?

Odd that it is doing that, I have been hearing a lot of odd problems with windows 8 and certain HP models through.

How long did you let it set there? Also try pulling the power and battery so that all the power drains out of the system and see if that helps. Windows 8 doesnt do a full restart like it use to because it tries to do the fast boot thing, so we need to force it :-)

Hi, Since Nov 11 there is no reply by the thread owner to Shanes suggestion.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Sorry. My computer was actually in seriously bad shape.  I had to reload windows.  I'm not sure what happened. Even the refresh windows failed.  But, to be fair, I had already damaged the registry before.  Tweaking worked the first time and helped to restore the windows store.  However, when I tried to restore other metro pages, it simply crashed the entire computer.   It worked out for the best.  The system is running smoother now, and I had a complete backup.  Sorry I can't give you more.
