Registry Backup & firewall
« on: April 11, 2015, 06:47:32 am »
Hello there,

I recently downloaded the portable version of Tweaking.com Registry Backup from Bleeping Computer to test its functionality.

When I started Registry Backup, my IS suite (Emsisoft Internet Security) popped up a notification to let Registry Backup through the firewall.

Is this normal?

Thank you.

Regards,
Alex

Thats what it is :-)

Open the program and go to the settings tab and you can take the check off where it says it will check for updates at program startup

Hi Shane,

That is one (out of many) things that I really like about all your programs.

I hate programs that are always checking for updates in the backgound, I always disable auto updates (except for AV). I am happy for a program that gets used infrequently to check for updates on launching, and appreciate programers who take your approach.....I guess it shows that programers are end users too and know what can irritate and annoy.

Samson.

Thanks and no problem :-)

I also HATE when things run in the background, non stop to check for updates on a schedule. Why on earth do they need to be running all the time? If you want to have a scheduled check then do it via the task scheduler. I dont want another process running (Java update for example, itunes and SO many others)

- Ah. But there's a cure for those (unwanted) programs/processes running in the background. Install Cleanmem and buy the PRO version. Then one can let the Advanced Monitor KILL those unwanted processes. I have done it as well.
