( SOLVED) Network Shares Missing (Windows 10)
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:20:17 pm »
Hello all,

I managed to get Windows 10 Pro x64 installed tonight. I love it so far.

The only issue I have ran into is that all of my network drives that are plugged into my router are now missing and I am unable to map them?

I have a Netgear Nighthawk R8000 and I am plugging a powered hub into... I had them  all mapped in Win 8.1 Pro but unable to connect or map now?

Any help is much appreciated... Thanks guys!

Hello all,

If you could please help....

I have a USB hub attached to my Netgear R8000 Nighthawk router.... I was able to map the drives in 8.1 Pro but now I cannot see them nor can I map them.

However, I can still see the drives on my phone or others computers so I know they are accessible in regards to the router functionality...

I have tried so much... no idea how to fix...

Please help...

I have ran tweaking windows repair in safe mode and the problem is still there...

Thanks,
Layne

When I type in Net View inside elevated cmd... I get...

"system error 64 has occurred. The specified network name is no longer available."

okay do you know the ipaddress of your network drives you should be able to find it on your router page most common ip address for a home network are 192.168.0.1
the ping command is
ping X
replace x with the ipaddress of the network drive

I am able to ping the norm 192.168.1.1 but I am still unable to see the drives when I try to browse for them or map them under map network location.

I am not savvy in this area btw.

I have no idea what the fix is....AHHHHHHHHH  :teeth:

I believe I have found some info as to why this is happening.

In services.msc.... Browser says "Failed to Read Description: Error Code 2"

Could this by why?

I also ran SFC /SCANNOW and found corrupted files... it could not repair....

So I ran DISM /Restorehealth and it could not repair....

Then I ran SFCFix and the end result was error 0x800f081f the source files could not be found.

Yikes.

I solved this issue by going into programs and features, turn windows features on or off, selected SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support (which was not selected), reboot.

BAM! Network shares appear!

Thanks,
Layne
