Package files need to be replaced
« on: July 17, 2015, 01:47:00 pm »
Hi, I haven't been able to do most Windows updates for awhile now, so found you. The pre-scan shows 386 files that are possible corrupt (bad digital signature). Not sure how to fix this. Thanks!

Looks liek this might be a cat database corruption again, which is either a corrupt database or bad intel ide chipset drivers.

In the device manager does your IDE ATA section have any intel devices under it?

Thats the same one I had trouble with :-0

Double click on that one, go to drivers tab and then click rollback driver. It should go back to the microsoft driver, reboot and give it another try.

Those intel drivers have been causing problems for a lot of people and going back tot he microsoft ones or finding newer intel drivers is the trick to fixing it.

Let me know how it goes.

The rollback driver option isn't highlighted, so I can't click on it. Neither is the disable. The driver details, update driver, and uninstall are though.

uninstall might work and then you reboot, MS normally has default drivers, so you can try that.

if that doesnt work then we need to find newer intel drivers to use. On the driver tab what is the mfg and driver version?

The version is: 8.9.0.1023
Mfg? Not sure what you mean by that. If you mean my computer, it's an Acer Aspire AO532h

I did go to Acer to see if there were any newer versions, and it looks like there is only this one.

Before I uninstall like you suggested, I need to know what to do then. I'm know a few things, but not alot.

Thanks again!

Been offline...
Right above the driver version, it says: Driver date 6/4/2009. Above that is Driver provider: Intel. If you mean something other than that, I have no idea what.

Well, I tried to do the first step, and install the Intel Driver Update Utility, and there were errors. It wouldn't install. FYI, I have tried to go to different restore points, and can't do that either.
