No Windows 10 start button
« on: February 04, 2016, 06:12:23 am »

I have tried this post twice once to julian and was blocked by Shane.

Can anyone help?

I purchased my pc with windows 7 then upgraded to win 8 then win 8.1 then win 10 all with no problems, I thought that my system was a little slow on start up and also slow binking between files so downloaded Tweak.

I ran the Tweak program and it took 48 hours to complete? after it was complete and restarted I  have no sound, no itunes, no win10 start button, no apps, cannot play cd's or dvd's edge link gone completly.

I have tried several resets and keep getting this error message (OX800422302) Shadow copy running.

HELP!

If you are able to get to the Start menu by pressing the Windows key, open Command Prompt (Admin) and enter -

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Then follow that with sfc /scannow to see if there is any file corruption.

The /restorehealth cmd can appear to hang at 20% but does complete.

Thank you
I would need a 64 bit cmd to work. The one in your reply will not work?

Either of those should work in a Command Prompt (Admin) - what error message are you getting ?

Unsupported 16-bit application
The programor feature "\??C:\dism.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit version of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

Can you run a sfc /scannow to see what that reports.

Hi
message after running sfc/scannow
windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations.

when I upgraded to win 10 in august my system as run without any problems untill I downloaded tweak. I cannot use windows button to access any apps, it also seems to have killed my sound card as I can not play any music.

when I try restore I get error codes like (OX80042302)  I try cannot re-install windows10.

If I try to use certain apps on task bar I also get this message (internet explorer class not registered)

Are you able to get Networking with Safe Mode ?

If your WiFi icon has a red cross on it and you can't then you can connect with an Ethernet cable.

Either of these articles should help to restore your system.

Here is a command to run in power shell to fix just your start menu in Windows 10
Code: [Select]
Get-appxpackage -all shellexperience -packagetype bundle |% {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($_.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”)} then reboot

You too :D

I created a thread for one of those, but told the second to create a thread but there's been no sign of him since.
