Very slow PC

I am facing issues with a family members PC which is running Windows Vista which has been running very slowly for quite some time now. I have used Tweaking.com Windows Repair 3.8.2 which has not resolved the issue. Whilst running the repairs I noticed there are many messages stating along the lines of could not find file/registry file and there are many errors, is there a way which I can get the missing files and registry files back? I have tried system restore and I am unable to perform a repair install or fresh install as I don't have all the software which will need to be reinstalled. Some help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

As you appear to have a Vista install disk, an offboot sfc /scannow may do that for you but the install disk would need to match the volume - i.e. SP2

You can uninstall the SP(s) from installed updates then boot up with the install disk.

Press any key when prompted to boot from CD/DVD.

You may get the splash screen to select Repair your computer, but if you get an inverse window with Windows Setup (EMS Enabled) just press enter.

The first link will get you a Vista x32bit Home Premium ISO which includes SP2, which I downloaded should if come in handy at some time and you can use the Windows USB/DVD Burner Tool to create the bootable disk.

I haven't been able to find an ISO for the 64-bit version.

If you need the 32 bit version but higher than Home Premium, it should work as it's the product key with Vista that determines the version it will install, but should be sufficient to repair your files without the need to reinstall or repair install for which you would need a valid retail key - the COA sticker key will not validate.
