Backup_failed_message.exe process ?
« on: December 17, 2016, 04:35:25 pm »
Hi,

Is it ok to have in the running processes the process "Backup_failed_message.exe" ?
I installed the portable version of  Registry Backup V 3.5.3 on windows 7 X64 and on windows 10 X64, And I see this running process on both machines in task manager.

Thank you

- No, it's not OK to have that process running. It means what it says "Backup Failed".
- The program produces logs that can tell what went wrong. Pull up those logs and attach them to your next post.
- Do you have it run upon startup under the system account ?
- Untick the option "Always use the fallback ................... " (advanced settings) and manually re-run the program. Does it work now ?

Hi Willy
Thank you for your reply.
I'm attaching a recent log from few minutes ago.
The only so called "error" I see is :
"[18/12/2016 - 08:46:42] Already Exists: C:\Windows\tweaking.com-regbackup-MAIN-Windows-10-Pro-(64-bit).dat for use in the dos_restore.cmd file"

As for your question, The program is set to run under system account.I also checked the scheduler, And it supposed to run on any user logon at startup with highest privileges.

Thank you

- One file was "in use" and caused the error.
- Untick the option "Always use fallback ..................... " (Advanced Settings).
- Then try if backing up manually works. Then RB should be using the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS). That's being displayed under the "Backup Now" button.
- I would recommend to Always use the Volume Shadow Copy. It's more powerful than using the "Fallback" method. Takes a bit more time but it's better than "Fallback".

Thank you so much willy for the reply.
The unchecking of "Always use fallback" made the message disappear
