Howdy - So I imagine my system is still in some kind of jeopardy, but I do not know exactly what kind.  How do I check?

Run a chkdsk /f followed by sfc /scannow and see what each report.

To view the chkdsk log, go Start - type eventvwr and press enter.

When Event Viewer opens ensure Event Viewer (Local) is highlighted in the left pane - if it isn't then just click on it.

When it has read the data expand Windows Log - click on Application/Action/Find then type chkdsk or wininit into the Find box and press enter.

Cancel the Find box and read the log in the scrollable window.

I've already described this but if the sfc /scannow reports it cannot repair some files as it did before, then copy & paste this cmd to the cmd prompt and press enter.

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > %userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

This will put an icon onto the desktop which when double clicked will open the CBS log in Notepad which you can then copy & paste into the reply box.

This is why it was suggested that you perform a repair install but if your machine works okay even with irreparable files then do the repair install at your discretion.

Sometimes you can ignore a report of an irreparable file as it can be the result of a Windows Update.

Reinstalling AOMEI will probably be a good idea but in Programs and Features, when you right click on it do you get a Repair option ?

I don't know why it is snagging that Netgear if that is your wireless dongle.

Can you go to Device Manager/View/Show hidden devices and check for any yellow alerts - you may need to expand Network adapters and Non-Plug and Play Drivers.

I don't know if you can get a driver update for the dongle, but if you aren't getting any connectivity problems then I'd ignore that error.

BTW - Is AOMEI a paid for or free program ?

Hi B,

I learned that I needed assistance uninstalling programs; that helped a lot of previous errors;
I would suggest that you ask people to download a "total uninstaller" program to uninstall programs they want to re-install. this will help problems in the areas of uninstalling what people also simply want to uninstall.

hehe lol - Aventis went from not wanting to send me the active adapters to having someone come day and install a new motherboard.  Long story, but in short AMD said it was the motherboard that was damaged by the W7000 card that got loose during shipment as it was not put in properly.  I thinks someone lost theri job.  But, the Technical Manager, Robert Martin,  stood up for me and resolved the adapter issue and is getting a man down here  Tuesday to install the new MB.  So, we shall see.

Howdy,
Well, Aventis came through.  New motherboard and on-site service, but still have not been able to get the AMD W7000 monitors working correctly.  Followed AMD instructions for a whole week and yet not they want me to install again with one W7000 connected and connect monitors 1 at a time.  then add the other W7000 with monitors one at a time.

I tell you AMD has got their head up their behind with these two W7000 which perform well once connected.  I had similar problems when I first bought them except 5 years ago their phone help was non-existent and when I did get connected they knew nothing and could not help (this went on for 9 months).

I will keep you posted.  I really want to clean up this OS.

Could it be a compatibility problem with the graphics cards ?

Boggin, I really do not know.  I had Nvida and other AMD cards on this machine when I first got it, but they were slow.  Each of these cards has 4 GB of memory for the two cards driving 8 monitors.  For about 4 years now, I have used them and they worked pretty darned well.  T7500 and W7 64b supposed to work all together with the W7000 cards --- and they have before this.

I don't know if we've covered this but have you checked the cables - say from the monitor that does work with the one that doesn't ?

Thanks, Boggin.  Yes, that was the first order of elimination.  At one point we checked each monitor with each cable --- 64 ++ connects and disconnects.  A nightmare due to some monitors needed extensions.

Can the monitors be reset - or has that also been tried already  - it's such a long thread :(

Thanks, but I do not know what you mean by "reset".  What is that?

There should be something in the menu to reset the monitor to default settings.

This is for a Dell PC monitor as an example - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/w/monitors/4487.monitor-factory-reset-self-test-bid-built-in-diagnostic

With it being a new motherboard then perhaps you need to treat things as out of the box ?

Happy New Year, Boggin!

Still only 7 of 8 monitors going.  Tried everything AMD gave me.  Now on with a third suport person, a supervisor, named Moe.  So we will see.  I just am worried about the final 'fix' to Win 7 until monitors are OK.  Thanks again for all your (and others) help so far.

Happy New Year to you Freecat :)

Are you still having problems with your Win 7 system other than the monitors ?

Well, so far so good except that I have that problem that I can not (am afaraid to) perfrom any Win 7 updates due to having system unworkable after last one which you helped me undo.

I have scheduled (in my brain) that rebuild of the system that you showed me once I solve this monitor problem.

It's quite possible that one could have been withdrawn and superseded, but if you want to give the updates another try, create a System Repair disk to boot up with and create a full system image onto an external HDD.

Happy New Year!
Well, it is next year, Boggin.
AMD still wants to try the same stuff as before that did not work.  BIOS, etc.
And, now they want to apply the windows updates --- critical they say.
But, I told them updates were OK before this new card so send me a new card and stop wasting my time.
We will see what they say.

Hi Boggin,

AMD is a bad out of control company that does not care about customers.  Yet, I just bought another new W7000 in the hopes that I can have my 8 monitors back; the only thing that allowed this was a good price of a company clearing inventory.  Gee, I wonder!

It should get here soon, and I will keep you updated.

Does your machine also use an AMD CPU ?

Not AMD. My machine has dual Intel Xeon X5570 Gamestown at 2.93 GH - 4 cores 4 threads each.
