Are you trying to take ownership of a file or a registry key ?

I'm going to have to go so I'll give you two links.

The first is for files and folders which if you scroll down you can download the hack which will put Take Ownership into the right click context menu and the second is for taking ownership of registry keys.

Vista ?
take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

I've seen this site a long time ago, I downloaded the files but it does not work.

Code: [Select]
You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder...

I have that on two Win 7 laptops upgraded to Win 10 and it works for me.

If the hack didn't work for you, did you try creating it manually from the steps in the article ?

I have UAC turned on and I do not want to turn off (Protect!)
I do not want to confirm each time as administrator when I want to delete any file or folder. Maybe it's related to something else?

The UAC is there to protect you.

I've just realised I didn't have this hack installed on my Win 7 laptop, so have downloaded and saved it.

When you say it didn't work for you, have you installed it correctly.

Locate the .zip in your Downloads folder, double click on it - Extract then right click on the add to context menu and select Merge then confirm.

I don't have anything I want to move or delete just yet so am unable to confirm if I would still get the UAC.

It does not work, I used the best method from the internet, but it still does not work, it does not work anymore!
Where is the log or debug log?
It always does not work when I have a new drive and it copies new data on it!
I have had enough of this for many years, always the same problem, and it's always when new disk and data is copied.
The problem is always when I have an admin account (but the second account).

1 account (Administrator)
2 account (bla bla bla Adminstrator) Problem
3 Administartors (Administratorzy)

Then that account must be corrupt - create another admin one.

Nonsense! How can you write such stupid things?
I have a new system and a new account and still this damn error!
I can change the system and so a foolish mistake to be, so your ideas are stupid.
I'm just a man and everyone makes a mistake. If I offended you - I'm sorry. My English is not very good.

I don't know what that rant is about but if it works on one admin account but not another, then there must be something wrong with that account and accounts can be become corrupt regardless of how new they are - although I don't have an explanation for that.

Delete that account and create a new admin one to see if it still fails - how is that stupid ?

BTW - I've edited your last post to remove the profanity.

You are correct in that I don't know why it should work in one admin account but not another, but until you told me that you had created another and it still failed in that, then that was the only advice I could give.

A simple solution would be to just use this in an account where it does work.

BTW - Why do you have more than one admin account - is the machine shared with someone else ?

Administrator permission (Non-System Data) - issue
« Reply #15 on: November 22, 2017, 07:27:25 am »
Dlaczego u diabła zmienić własne konto?
Chcę po prostu podłączyć nowy dysk z nowymi danymi. Po prostu nie chcę ręcznie zatwierdzać uprawnień administratora.

Why the hell to change their own account?
I just want to connect a new disk with new data. I just don't want to manually approve admin permission.

What exactly are you trying to do ?

You only need to take ownership of a file when it is a system file and you will always get that error that you require permission from the administrator.

In this case the admin is the Trusted Installer.

In Windows it is normal to get an UAC when opening programs unless it has a SkipUAC in Scheduled Tasks or downloading anything - what else are you doing ?

I have UAC enabled. But when the new disk connection needs to confirm each operation. How to avoid it?

Admninistrator permision - issue (Non System Data)
« Reply #21 on: November 27, 2017, 02:43:29 am »
Boggin - Information window: "You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder of files". (Non-System Data)

UAC does not matter. Since I have a second drive, that's fine, and UAC does not affect deletion.
I have bad settings in:
Security -> Group or User Names or Advanced -> Permission or Inspection Or Owner or Active Privileges.

Is the file in use - try the deletion in Safe Mode.

You still suggest me a bad solution.
No, because they are user files such as graphics, music.
It is not required Safe Mode!
This should work in Normal Mode! For a thousand or a million files.
I want in Normal Mode to have a preview of each folder and file and modify, delete or move it. Work with every file every day.
There are solutions on the internet, but I do not understand them. I need a step-by-step.
Inherited Permissions (All Folders etc.)

It is not necessarily a bad solution because you can't delete a file that is in use and the workaround is to try the deletion in Safe Mode.

Have you tried that yet ?

EDIT - The link I've provided is a step by step in how to take ownership of a folder/file.
