Multiple drive monitor
« on: October 31, 2012, 06:27:50 PM »
Hey

I know you have a drive monitor but will you consider one for multiple drives? I know your busy, I think it would be a great program for people who want to monitor several drives.

That is on my pcwintech.com site
http://www.pcwintech.com/drive-speedometer

It can monitor 1 drive at a time or all of them combined.

There is a trick you can do with it to have more than one monitor. You just have to have multiple copies of the program in different folders. Each can monitor its own.

It is a pain I know, but right now the program isnt that popular and so I wont be doing any major changes right now as I have my other popular ones I have to keep up on :-)

OK so the trick is to not use the built in option to have it start with Windows.

What you will do is copy all the files in program folder and paste them into 4 other different folders.

You will run the program from all 5 locations. You will put a shortcut to each one in your startup menu in the start menu. This way all 5 will load at Windows when you log in.

Each folder saves its settings in the settings.ini file. Thats why you are able to do it this way.

While you would have 5 programs running, they take very little resources. You can then change the color on each monitor to tell them apart.

Damn it! Sorry bud I had an old version of the program in mind!

I forgot I didnt have the option to choose a drive, it does all the drives combined.

I had an old .net drive monitor I had long before I made this one and had that in my mind.

Perhaps I will make a quick update to let the user choose which drive to monitor :-)

I attached my old program if you want to take a look.

Remind me in a week or so and I should be able to add the option in a day :-)
