I must admit that it looks like your HDD to me but you said the chkdsk didn't show any KBs in bad sectors.

If you are able to, perform a chkdsk /r which will move data from any bad sectors it finds and will block those sectors from being written.

You didn't answer if you had downloaded and installed all of the Windows Updates since reinstalling.

Can you power shut it down to perform a cold boot ?

You may need to pull the plug again and then hold the power button in for ~30secs and then see what you have.

How old is the machine ?

That was going to be my next to take in to a reputable repair shop.

I think you have a hardware problem on there which could be your motherboard.

Just how much did that repair shop check as I don't think that would be why you kept getting sfc /scannow finding corruption after a clean install.

Did you tell them that ?

Is it the SATA Controller driver you need ?

I would contact your computer support for that driver.

Alternatively you could try https://www.driverscape.com/ and while I've never used this site, I did put my make & model of laptop in and while it listed the wrong graphics driver, it did list a SATA Controller driver, but I'd create a system image and the means to recover from it before installing it.

Sorry, I wasn't aware it was a paid for program.

If you can't get that driver from your computer support site then you could try this free driver update program - https://slimware.com/driverupdate/1?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=DU_SR_ENG_Generic_Revised_SW2xdm866&p2=^SW2^xdm866&tid3=RSA&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu4bg-5205AIVg7TtCh3sGwEMEAAYASAAEgLOGPD_BwE

I used this years ago but stopped when it said it had found an updated driver for my wireless but was just installing one for the same date I already had.

You don't have to install every updated driver it finds but create restore points before any updates.

Did it not show which drivers it found before you had to pay ?

Let's see if reinstalling it from the store will resolve.

Go into Device Manager and expand the ATA Controllers and select Update Software - Browse my computer - Let me pick - and check to see which drivers are there.

On my AMD based laptop, I have one for an AMD SATA Controller and one for a standard AHCI controller.

The AMD one is the one that is installed.

I don't know why you are still getting a yellow alert on that but in Device Manager click on View/Show hidden devices to see if you have any other yellow alerts.

Can't find it on Google - I'd have to trawl through your thread - no matter.

Anyway, I'm off now and glad that you finally got sorted.

Before you reinstall FSX can you put the machine into a clean boot mode by disabling all items under Start-up in Task Manager then go Start - type msconfig and press enter when it comes up.

Under Services check the box to Hide all Microsoft services - Disable all - Apply - OK then reboot.

This will eliminate any 3rd party program or non MS service as a possible conflict with FSX.
