Given what you said you have tried in your PM to me, I would advise a reset which is more involved than a normal Win 10.

This article is a walk through that I have found as I don't have any experience of Servers.

All help on this forum is free.

Given this is what you have done so far without resolution, what else is there to repair it with ?

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
The component store is repairable.
The operation completed successfully.

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
The component store is repairable.
The operation completed successfully.

Takes a logn time:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Error: 1726
The remote procedure call failed.

dism /image:C /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
Error: 2
Unable to access the image.
Make sure that the image path and the Windows directory for the image exist and you have Read permissions on the folder.

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Error: 2
The system cannot find the file specified.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:WIM:D:\S2016S\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess
Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:WIM:D:\S2016S\sources\install.wim:1

sfc /scannow
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Dism /Get-ImageInfo /ImageFile:C:\Recovery\windowsRE\winre.wim

Dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:C:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim /Index:1 /MountDir:C:\mount
Worked but only after I created C:Mount

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:c:\mount\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
ERROR

Dism /Image:C:\mount /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\mount\windows\servicing\packages
Error: 87
No packages were found that require processing.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:\Recovery\windowsRE/winre.wim /LimitAccess
Error

If this had been a normal Win 10 then either a repair install or a Reset would have resolved.

While I'm not familiar with Win Servers, from what I have found, a Reset/Restore is the only option when those Dism cmds and a sfc /scannow fail to resolve.

Why can't you restore that server ?

It may be worth performing a chkdsk /r to see if HDD corruption is the cause of the system not being able to be repaired.

Thanks for asking!  I believe the issue is with these corrupt stores or whatever they are called:
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-UPnP-net-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-UPnP-onecoreuap-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WinMgmt-admin-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WinMgmt-onecore-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WinMgmt-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WSD-base-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WSD-onecoreuap-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0
(p)   CBS Catalog Missing         Microsoft-OneCore-WSD-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~ko-KR~10.0.14393.0

I found a thread where Julian somehow restored these missing CBS catalogs.  Also, I have done a lot a research and have seen others have way more corruption than this and they were able to fix it.  It just has to get into the right hands.  Anyway to reach out to Julian?  Do you know him?  I believe he can fix this issue, he fixed a very similar issue for someone else.

Thanks for your efforts!

You are probably referring to the Cat and MUM file replacement section which is now closed.

I'll bring your problem to the attention of jpm who may be able to help, although I'm not sure when I'll get a reply from him.

I haven't seen Julian on the forum for a while but you could PM him where he would see the notification in his email.

Can you do a chkdsk /r to see what it reports - there must be some reason for your system corruption.

Had you downloaded anything or done anything else prior to this problem ?

Good suggestion, I did a checklist and it came back and told me that there were no issues. When I reviewed the update results list, the list of past updates that have been installed this problem has been happening for months and we didn't realize it. So it would be hard to associated with anything that we did many months ago. If you look at the catalog missing CBS and trees you will notice that it has the Korean language reference in them for some reason. This is indicated by the krko. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I double-checked and we do not have any other language packs installed or anything like that. English only.

Let's see if you have picked up an infection.

Download and run the free ESET Online Scanner to see what that reports.

https://www.eset.com/uk/home/online-scanner/

Normally I would advise booting into Safe Mode with Networking to download and run that but I don't know if you are able to do that.

Let me know if it finds and removes any infections.

When done, run another sfc /scannow and when it reports it cannot fix some files, download and run SFCFix.exe and post its log.

https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/sfcfix.html

Depending upon what that reports, it may be best for you to register and open a thread in the relevant section on the www.sysnative.com forum where that program originated from.

Post your CBS log from the sfc /scannow and the SFCFix.exe log and wait for the thread to be picked up.

Thanks for the suggestion however I have webroot installed on the server and always has been so I don't believe it was any type of infection. Unless you consider windows itself as a virus. Lol

:)

AV programs aren't 100% effective and it's always worth having a second opinion in some cases, which is why there are dedicated scanners.

I'd run ESET.

tmmonaco:

I don't want to butt in, but if I were you, I would take Tom's advice and head over to the Sysnative Forums.  They have a dedicated Forum, with trained experts, to deal specifically with these kinds of issues.

Good luck and have a great day.

That's good news but I think you should ensure you are infection free before undertaking any remedial steps.

I've emailed Shane about this and he says the Pro version of Windows Repair has a repair which will resolve this by cleaning up the registry for missing Package files.

However, if the experts on the Sysnative forum can sort this for free then I'd try that route.
