Browser Repair/Reset Tool
« on: January 11, 2013, 06:57:53 AM »
Hi Guys,

I love all these tweaking tools but one tool is sadly missing that I would like to see.

I analyze malware/hijackers as a hobby and help other people remove them in my spare time. Lately the number of browser hijackers has risen sharply because more and more people are bundling them with freeware.

The typical web-browser hijacker (we take Babylon as an example) usually does the following:

* Installs its own toolbar
* Changes the start-up page to its own search engine
* Alters new tab to it's own search engine
* Installs its own extensions/addons
* Changes the default search engine to its own

Now there are tools that remove most of this but they never seem to reset the start-up page back to normal, change the search engine back to default etc... so I would LOVE to see a tool that could reset all of that back to default status in IE, Chrome and Firefox.

It looks like the company "Anvisoft" are working on such a product but right now it only works with IE, but wanted to show you so you can get some idea of what I mean:

http://www.anvisoft.com/product/browserrepairtool.html

Anyway, just a suggestion... I would certainly include it in my tutorial videos and make everyone aware of it.  :wink:

-cheers

Might be something to consider as a tool by itself down the road, thanks for the idea :-)
