Startup and Recovery
« on: March 09, 2012, 05:36:40 pm »
Hi Shane

Under system failure my options will not stay in effect. Is there some registry setting to fix this? Here is the screen shot.

Odd, never seen them not hold. They are just reg settings. Wonder if the reg keys dont have the correct permissions?

I'm not sure. What lead me to was the slow boot at the "preparing your desktop". Looking through the event viewer there were several application and system errors. I got them all fixed but volmgr error.
It was under system as volmgr event id 45. the details were "crash dump initialization failed". It happens twice after every reboot. My system runs fine, just trying to fix the error. At first I wasn't sure if was due to small pagefile but upon further research, I find out to fix it I need to have "write an event to the system log" checked off, but it wouldn't take, as well as not being able to have a kernel memory dump. If it's  a registry setting to fix , I don't know what it is

What happens if you change the regkeys from 0 to 1. Do they hold?

That worked. Wonder why I couldn't change it from the menu though? New problem though, now I'm getting volmgr error 49. Pagefile to small. Guess I can configure it due a kernel dump versus a complete dump or just do the smaller dump. Here is a pic

That didn't work. the system wants 2900 pagefile size. Should I set for kernel dump or a minidump?

Mini dump

(Sounds gross, the other option makes me think of corn lol)

Hope you like to laugh, or this bad joke of mine is going to cost me some respect

Me neither. It wont let me change from a complete dump to kernel dump or the smaller one.. Keeps reverting back to complete.

All fixed.  Thanks man, I really appreciate it.
Now I need to tackle an audit failure under security. If I can't figure it out I'll post a new thread.
