Cannot check for updates, no updates in 5 years

I have an HP computer with win 7 6.1 installed.
I used your repair disk, no help.
Windows will not search for updates (error 80080005)
When updates arrive, rarely,  from microsoft, they will not install.
Microsoft over the years has been of no help, same with HP.
Performed a clean boot this morning and tried again, same problem.

First thing I would do is run combofix.exe

Once it is done run my Windows repair tool and have it run ALL the repairs. Make sure to have it do a registry backup first.

Then once that is done and rebooted download and install the Windows 7 readiness tool

Once that is done and rebooted give windows updates another try :wink:

Shane, thanks for trying.  I followed instructions, but it did not work.  I cannot find or install updates.

Do you have service pack 1 installed yet?

Go to the start button and right click on computer and go to properties.

When it opens it will show your windows version at the top and if service pack 1 is installed it will say it there.

And it will say in the middle of the page there if you are 32 or 64 bit, let me know which :wink:

windows 7 home premium.  No SP1.  I have not been able to download this or any other microsoft.
