Then manually download the Win 7 Service Pack 1 and manually install it.
E.g.
http://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/download/details.aspx?id=5842

or GOOGLE it.

That Service Pack has a special number/code (KB976932).

shell24:
The service pack would not install.  I have tried many times over the years, but always the same. Cannot install any microsoft stuff.

Willy2:
O.M.G.

shell24:
O.M.G. ? What does that mean?
Is that the best you can offer?

Willy2:
Didn't know things could get this bad with WU.
- Did you run WR in Safe Mode ? Does WU work in Safe Mode ?
- Did you execute steps 3 (Chkdsk) & 4 (SFC /scannow) in the main Windows Repair screen ? These can repair the file system and the system files.
- Sounds like your internet connection is not too good. Do you have any problems visiting websites & downloading files ?
- I know the Service BITS is used by Microsoft to let your system check for updates. But Windows Repair is supposed to fix BITS. Is the Service BITS running ?
- HP puts all their driver software in the subfolder "C:\Swsetup". (Copy it to an USB stick) Perhaps re-installing those drivers can fix the problem.
