Shane:
That is the exact same thing my windows repair does on the repair windows updates.
Something else is going on, when you get a chance I want you to do a chkdsk on the drive for bad sectors, it is a long scan so run it and then go enjoy some coffee :-)
Open a cmd.exe as administrator
put in
chkdsk c: /f /r
It will say the drive is in use, hit Y to schedule it and enter and then reboot. It should start the scan before windows boots up. If it doesnt try it again.
Once it is done it will write the results to the event viewer, I want to see if it says 0 KB in bad sectors or if it is more than 0.
I run my Windows Repair all the time and almost daily and never ran into the problems you are having, which means something else is at play here and the chkdsk is the first to check

Shane:
Not the chkdsk I asked for
The chkdsk /r is 5 steps, not 3 and does a much longer scan and also checks for bad sectors along with checking all the actual data. Run that scan before you head off to bed and post the results tomorrow.
I am off to bed my self, night!
