i wont use a tor, sorry
Boggin:
I think the only way you will be able to get around this is to try and hide your identity.
These are some programs but don't know if they free http://spoof-ip-address.software.informer.com/
Disregard that bit about needing WMP v12.2 to view content as v12 is default installed in Win 7.
jraju:
hi, rick,
Do you have the original vista disk. Then get it boot from usb instead of dvd and run it. What is the error message.
Boggin, i have read from your post in the thread that it stops at 99% because of a miss of file and also image burn would have burnt as udf and not as iso 9660. am i correct
Boggin:
@ JR - No, as I said in my Reply #15 Windows USB/DVD burner was telling me to check my DVD drive whereas ImgBurn reported a successful burn, so I used the USB/DVD burner to create another Win 7 bootable disk from a known good ISO and got the same error message.
I'll download the Vista SP2 ISO onto my other laptop and see what Windows makes of that one, but I won't be able to check out it's serviceability as to a bootable disk, but at least I'll be able to confirm what it was telling me regarding the disk drive on this laptop.
As it takes about 1hr 20mins to download, I'll update later.

@ Rick - I wonder if it would be worth logging into your router and changing the DNS Servers from your default ISP's to either Open DNS - 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220 or Google's 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 and then do the same for the Network adapter you are using on your computer to see if the ISO will download.
If you do change them, then open a command prompt and run it as an administrator and enter -
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
exit (to close the cmd window)
Not sure if the latency would be crap though with you being in China but if you open a command prompt and enter ping with each of the Primary for Open DNS and then Google's, you can see how long it will take.
For Google for me from the UK I get an av. of 45ms and 44ms for Open DNS.
