The problem is a" back up" is taking place. None are set to do this on boot up. Belive it to be a windows/Microsoft one not SAS. Have not been able to find a way of stopping it.

With the free version of CCleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download - Tools/Startup you can check the scheduled tasks.

Mine has some for MS but to me they are unidentifiable, although a scheduled back up may be more identifiable.

I already use CC. I have uninstalled Acer back up I don't think that's the one causing problems but will see what happens when start up tomorrow.
This report is interesting, appears to indicate a fault with side by side. Just don't mean anything to me.----

 A SideBySide error is where one program conflicts with another as the description details but as it involves the WinSxS folder, I'll leave that for Shane to unravel, although I've never known CCleaner to cause any problems.

Did that error pop up when you ran CCleaner or did you delve into Event Viewer and have you ran another sfc /scannow yet ?

Did you check the task scheduler to see what you have in it that is starting up, that might be doing the backup?

Do you know what is being backed up and to where?

I know my registry backup, if you use it, can slow down a system at bootup when using the volume shadow copy to back up the registry. It isnt my program that is causing the slow down but it is the VSS that is doing it because it is making a shadow copy at the same time other things are still loading.

So for the registry backup I always use the fallback method to do the backup instead and I also put a 2 or 5 min delay on the startup task to give time for everything else to startup.

So maybe you have something in the task scheduler doing the same thing.

A Win 7 Repair disk can be created on any Win 7 machine through Control Panel/System and Security/Back up your computer and clicking on the option in the top left pane, but other than giving you the Advanced Boot options including allowing you to navigate to the Recovery Environment, I'm not sure what help a Repair disk would be that you couldn't avail yourself of those options by tapping F8 as you switch on.
