You should be able to get a RMA on the HDD as it will still be under warranty but I agree, you wouldn't expect a HDD to fail that soon.

Hi, Along with other ideas, i would advise you to copy everything you want and then clean the hard disk by hard disk manufacturer's diagnosis tool, like seagate tools for dos and windows. If you could clean the dbas of hard disk, then there is a chance that your hard disk may be recovered. Hard disc does not fail that much earlier unless some outer power surge fires the hdd.
                                              Then copy the contents.
bad sectors of 144 kb in different dbas of hdd would create a lot of problems.

It could be due to an overheating problem I suppose - can you check the temp it is running at - either in the BIOS or with HD Monitor.

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html - download link in the left pane below the blue 4 Steps etc.

Okay, it's definitely dying on me and needs to be replaced.

It's a 1TB WB Green. (WD10EZRX)

Any suggestions for a good replacement or should I just get another one and hope it doesn't die?

Hi, Pips,
i do not think that your hdd is dead. Not at all. What you have to do is copy all the files other than system files. There are diagnostics tool of the respected manufacturer. For you , I think that your manufacturer has tools to test . Just download and run to find . There are tools if you want to completelely ged rid of bad sectors.  The link for running windows is here

the guide is here

I think that your hdd would get repaired. If it is not booting, then you could try this link
