Unable to access Safe Mode.
craig-e-whittington:
I have Microsoft Windows 8.1 as my computer operating system. After running the repairs in Tweaking.com - Windows Repair version 3.2.1. free version, I am unable to access Safe Mode. I used to be able to constantly depress the shift button & hold it depressed before the computer boots up to gain access to Safe Mode & other computer options. This action is no longer possible, after running the above repairs.
What can I do?
Thank You

Dont post your email or the spam bots will get a hold of it :-)
I never had trouble accessing safe mode after the repairs, the program doesn't change the command key to get into safe mode, which is normally hitting F8 on the keyboard, never heard of holding shift before.
Here are the known ways to get into safe mode for 8.1

None of the repairs touch anything to do with how you access safe mode, in fact I am not even aware of a way to change that option other than enabling the classic F8 option in 8.1. Otherwise I am not aware of Microsoft giving a way to change that.

Dear Shane,
In the interim of me posting 'Unable to access Safe Mode', I tried to do it one more time by depressing & holding the shift button before reboot & I was successful. I do not know why it would not do this before.
Thanks

It could be worth giving the keyboard a blow over with a can of compressed air and try this free keyboard checker should either key have been sticking. http://www.keyboardtester.com/

Dear Shane,
Overall I am satisfied with the functions of my previously posted & mentioned Tweaking.com - Windows Repair software program. Only one thing now remains: After running the repairs in the aforementioned program, the Microsoft Windows Apps: Windows Mail, People & Calendar would not function. I had to uninstall & re-install these apps to have them function normally. They are working fine now.
Should the above inoperative apps occur after running the above repair? I am reluctant to run the repair again because of this.
Thanks
