Replace files - Windows 7 64bit
CMD:
I've just run Tweaking repair tool and have been told that I must manually replace C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages\Package_1_for KB2479943 31bf3856e35 amd64 6.1.1.0.mum and combined problems were found with the packages files, these files need to be replaced. I don't have the first idea of how to set about this - can anyone help. Problems started five days ago when windows refused to open websites citing certification problems. Also dislikes my outlook but will allow me to open it. Microsoft security found Exploit: Java/CVE-2011-3544 but I suspect that's been on my system for years and not really the reason for the problems. Have done lots of work removing virus', malware, temporary files etc but problem persists.

I'm waiting for Shane or Julian to come onto the forum to help with a number of threads dealing with Package replacement files.
It's possible that you may not be totally infection free, so boot up into Safe Mode with Networking and run a scan with ESET Free Online Scanner.
http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/
Check the top two radio buttons then click on the Advanced settings button and check all of the boxes with the archives being optional.
This scan will take some time but it is thorough.
If you still then get the certification errors, this article may help with that http://www.thewindowsclub.com/there-is-a-problem-with-this-websites-security-certificate

Hi Boggin
Thank you for your quick response.
I've tried to run a scan with ESET but, unfortunately, Windows blocks the software as it can't verify the publisher!
I was in safe mode and accepted the active x but couldn't get any further. Other software I've been able to download and run, such as yours, malwarebytes, hitman, Kaspersky TDSSKiller, AdWCleaner.

I would think that if you've ran scans with those then you should be clean.
Have you had a look through that Windows Club article I've linked to deal with certification errors ?
Shane:
Can you post the pre-scan log from the program? That way I can make sure I am getting the right files.
Shane
