Hello again Shane

Apologies that my earlier message was so brief - I was struggling to attach the file(s) and leave the house in a hurry.  Your help is very much appreciated.

Julian:
I found the files for you and uploaded them here is a quote from  one of Shane's previous posts on another thread about the steps to take to apply these files.

First grab the zip file off this page and apply the reg file it in to add the take owner ship to the right click menu in explorer.

Once that is done go to C:\Windows\servicing\ and right click on Packages and click on take ownership. You will now be able to copy the files into that folder.

I have attached the missing files, extract the files out of the attached zip file and put them in the C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\ folder.

Then run my pre-scan again, put a check on the box to have it add the cat files back to the database.

Hello Julian

I carried out the file replacement as instructed but, unfortunately, this has not repaired my problem.  I see the pre scan, attached, suggests the programme file as possibly corrupt due to bad digital signature.  This is the problem I am experiencing all over the computer.  Outlook I can access after a warning.  Hotmail log in is denied to me as is btmail, Microsoft support, amazon and many others.  The same with some downloaded programmes (Norton cannot be reinstalled though I have been able to download and run Microsoft security essentials) though not all.

I have looked through windows reliability monitor to see what was going on at the time and the only activity was on the day before the problem occurred when there was a reconfiguration of 4 Office 15 components.  Interestingly these were reconfigured again about 36 hours later.

Also windows 10 attempted to install and failed (because I stopped it), though this was after the problem first occurred.  It started installing without my permission - windows has taken to automatically checking the upgrade to 10 box in my list of updates.

Julian:
Weird what folder did you place them in?
