Boggin:
With an OEM machine you usually have the option to create a set of Recovery disks which is a copy of what is in the Recovery partition and usually requires two DVDs but could be more.

(I use paper disk envelopes so that I can mark the envelope with the disk number).

This should be in Start - All Programs - your computer make folder.

If you have all of your personal stuff backed up then see if you have this facility to create the Recovery disks, then go for a new HDD which you can then change the Boot order (tap F12 as you switch on) to boot from the ODD and insert the first Recovery disk, because with all that is going on and a possible failing HDD, I think a factory reset will be the way to go with this.

would not the problem just be copied to the new hd
i would prefer to fix two isues first
1 sfc
2 areo

with all the checks and playing about the computer now boot fast so thats one out of the road
I noticed  that the the notice "this computer is activated "is now missing and reading some else stated this is a part of windows protection they drop aero and some other working parts
it was a original w7 some yeasr back
could that be the problem its run out of credit time ???

Boggin:
No, the problem wouldn't be copied to the new HDD because you would be restoring the computer to as out of the box with the Recovery disks.

Which version of Windows are you using now ?

xenon1nonex1:
 w7

thats for your help

Boggin:
It was just that you said it was Win 7 original some years back that I thought you may have upgraded from say Home Premium to Pro or higher.

If that had been the case then a factory reset would have taken you back to the original version.

Have you been able to create the recovery disks ?
