Stop windows repair from starting up with Windows (SOLVED)

(1/2) > >>

Win XP machine..I can't stop the program from starting up-- there's an icon in my task bar. Went to settings and unchecked the start up with windows but I get this error
message:

Thanks

Samson:
Uncheck the WR Tray Icon.

Willy2:
- The system tray icon is controlled by a small program that's run independent of the main repair program. See the list of programs in Task Manager.

mikeybinec:
Cool, I have superusers telling me what to do

OK, lets' try this again..  Open up the tweak control panel

Let's see.. Everything is unchecked.. Yeah, looks good.. So what happens?

Dam*  still the same error Kinda tells me I shouldnt have updated to the newest version.. Yes I did see the process running in taskmanager, but I can't
find it in msconfig

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Willy2:
- Use e.g. Piriform's CCleaner to remove the Tray Icon program from the list of programs that are run by Task Scheduler (TS). TS starts the program with a few minutes delay after startup of Windows.
- Check TS. When you untick that "program launch" box, does Windows Repair remove the appropriate entry in the TS list ?
- Odd. I wonder whether or not you have found a bug in the Windows Repair program that's only showing up in XP. But I stopped using XP some 3 years ago.
