With that amount of corruption, your HDD could be failing.

Have you created a system image yet ?

Do that first before performing a chkdsk /r

This is how to create the Win 8.1 install media - https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-uk/sln299314/how-to-create-windows-installation-media-for-windows-8-1-and-windows-10-using-the-media-creation-tool?lang=en

We were unable to run Tweaking Windows Repair Tool. The software did not go into safe mode.We tried running it in safe mode and again it failed. The system does not boot in safe mode now.We can only work at the Command prompt.

We received a farbar log from the command prompt. Listed some corrupt files. We found the files, but we couldn't copy them because they are zero bytes. We had the Tweaking Windows Repair Tool backup file. We want to backup from this file. I first asked the user to create Win 8.1 install media.

Which should be our operation priority? 8.1 upload media or  tweaking.com-regbackup file?

Even if the regbackup file works, I think only safe mode can be turned on.

Best regards.

Hi Boggin,

We used to work with repair media on Flash drive. We can enter normal and safe mode.
Disk problems continue.

Thank you again for your help.

Regards.

What does the chkdsk /r report ?

If that is reporting KBs in bad sectors then you will need to arrange for the guy to get a new HDD before that one fails.

Have you created the system image yet ?

As you can get the cmd prompt you could run these cmds to see if they will repair the file corruption, but not if the corruption is on bad sectors.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

Enter exit to close the cmd window.

The dism cmd could report that it has repaired some corruption or that it completed successfully.

The sfc /scannow can report that it has found and repaired all corruption or that it found no integrity violations.

You can run a read-only chkdsk or the Farbar tool again to check if any corruption remains, but it is imperative that you perform a chkdsk /r as soon as possible.

Hi Boggin,

My apologies for the delay.

We opened the system with Windows 8.1 repair media. The user said everything is fine. However, he has not returned until now.
So I'm late. Sorry.

If he returns, I will consider your suggestions.

Thank you so much. Best regards.

Boggin:
Not sure what Win 8.1 repair media is but if you have created Win 8.1 install media then you can perform those cmds when you boot up with it.

Navigate to the install screen and select Repair your computer - Troubleshoot/Advanced options and select Command Prompt.

You can perform either a chkds /f or /r from there but first you would need to enter this cmd -

bcdedit |find "osdevice"

and using that partition letter instead of the x I have exampled, enter chkdsk x:  /f or /r

The report will stay on the screen.

For clarity, that is a Pipe symbol before find and is the uppercase of \

For the dism cmd, it's a little different - again using your partition letter instead of the x I have exampled -

I may not need to tell you this but note the space before each / in the following cmds.

dism /image:x:\ /cleanup-image /restorehealth

The sfc scannow is also different and again using your partition letter instead of the X I have exampled, enter -

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=X:\ /offwindir=X:\Windows

Hopefully you can bring this job to a conclusion when he returns, providing the chkdsk doesn't report any KBs in bad sectors.

Have you created a system image yet ?
