Tascam Us-1800 Stopped Working Today

<< < (2/3) > >>

Boggin:
That code is an Access Denied and could be caused by your antivirus program.

Providing you are choosing the correct driver, you could try installing it in Safe Mode with Networking.

If that doesn't resolve then try a restore point back to when it was working but make a note of the programs affected.

Does the device work in Safe Mode with Networking ?

Is there any way you could test the cable or get hold of another ?

From a Google, cables going down can be an issue.

tsmith:
I think the Audio interface might be fried. I had a brother laser printer hooked up through a series of power strips and surge protectors and the same day my audio interface went out I printed something and it caused my whole computer to just shut off instantly and my audio interface was flashing on and off until i turned it off. I guess I didnt realize it until now but think that must have caused some damage to the device.

Boggin:
So does your printer still work ?

tsmith:
Yes Printer does work. When audio took a crap I did not realize that my audio interface stopped working for a day or so.

I remembered the event viewer today so I was trying to locate an event in the event viewer but am not very familiar really with the results it gives or really what I am looking for. Under device manager-Tascam us 1800 in the event viewer the most recent event was jan of 2021 however there was a critical event on 10/2/2021 at 1206:31 which was about the time I think it crashed. Kernel power thing and that was likely when it crashed but not sure what I should be looking for to find out what caused the event. At this point I cant even reinstall the driver for the tascam, I uninstalled it a few days after it crashed and stopped working and I should have tried to roll it back or something other than uninstall but I didnt and now when I go to try to reinstall it will not reinstall I keep getting the same 0005 message and I try to install for an earlier operating system or as the administrator but cant get it up and running. Its either fried or I have not done something correct.  .

Boggin:
In Event Viewer if Event Viewer (Local) isn't highlighted then click on it and when it has read the data, check to see if any Critical have been recorded.

If not, click on Error and then on View All Instances of This Event in the lower right pane.

From there you can click on events with a date and time stampr for when your computer crashed.

The access denied code could be because of your antivirus program blocking the driver install, which is why I suggested trying to install it in Safe Mode with Networking.

This is a link for its manual which has a troubleshooting section which may help.

I haven't downloaded it to check.
