General Computer Support / Windows 10 and msconfig

I have just updated my PC to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and everything is going fine so far, except..... I did a clean boot on the machine before installing the update. I have found that now, I am unable to permanently change the msconfig start up option to normal. I can set it to normal and reboot, but it reverts back to selective startup after the reboot. I was going to check the "make all boot settings permanent" box, but I was warned that this could not be undone or reversed! So I'm at my wits' end as to how to set a default, etc. for the boot. Any suggestions? And thank you!

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Tweaking.com icom keeps disappearing from my taskbar

I am fairly new to Tweaking.com, probably about 3 weeks or so, and I did purchase the pro version. The Tweaking.com icon keeps disappearing from my taskbar! When I go to start/programs/tweaking.com/open windows repair icon and I click it, Windows asks me if I want to allow it, which I say yes, and then nothing happens! I have to reboot to get it back! What am I doing wrong?

General Computer Support / windows 7 custom installation on older vista laptop

Hello, I have an older ASUS laptop X71SL running Vista Business 32 bit and I would like to do a custom installation of Windows 7 64 bit, but I don't know where to get a disk at a price that is reasonable given the age of the laptop. I bought it in 2009. Also, I'm not geeky enough to figure out how to update the drivers from the Asus support site...any advice or should I just forget it? Thank you!

I am wondering if there is a good alternative to gmail. I am really honked off at them right now. They have "locked down" my account for no reason, and I can not log on unless I am on my mobile devices and it goes through Apple. I was sending a bunch of attachments to friends, when suddenly I was locked down. I have submitted my ticket to them, and they inform me that I am in good standing and I just need to "log on" again. But I keep getting the message:

I can not get on to my email account. I like that I don't have to keep my emails on my hard drive but can access the email anywhere...WHEN IT WORKS!!!

Any suggestions? I am fed up with them. This has happened before. I will send another post with the reply they give me from my ipad...

General Computer Support / Computer keeps crapping out on me!!!

I am looking for some help as to what to do. I have been posting now constantly for going on a week and I THOUGHT that I had my mess fixed. Please see the threads from my other postings. Anyway, I can not stop this error (please see postings) which totally makes my computer crash. I bought the pro edition of WR and was hoping beyond hope that it could help. But I have actually had more problems since installing it than I had before. So what I need to know is WHAT SHOULD I DO? Do I need to smash this machine (it's only 2 years old and I do not want to do that) wipe it clean..(I'll need help with that) take it to someone that can tell me what's wrong (and who would that be? Shane, I think you said you are in Florida...I'm in Florida, too, where are you? Maybe I could bring my machine to you and hire you to fix it or tell me what to do....)
I am at my WITS END!!!!!!!!

General Computer Support / HELP! HELP! BIG PROBLEMS AFTER REPAIR !

OK, I really need help, now. I signed up for the pro version last Friday and was very happy to find a place where I could find help to fix stuff on my computer. All the "PC fix-it" programs seem to be a big scam..just says that things are being fixed, but nothing seems to change. This place seems different..HOWEVER; I spent all week end trying to clean out my pre scan errors etc so that I could do the repair. I was having trouble with corrupted files on the system scan and Boggin said that they were due to the Windows Update KB3068708. He suggested that I delete that update, which I did, but the errors were still there. Anyway, he said it didn't matter. So I finally was able to get clean scans except for that, and I ran the repairs. I did backup the registry and created restore points. All went well...I thought. But now I can not print from my beloved HP Laserjet 1200 which I have had since around 2002...I know it's old, but it works like a champion. Anyway, I have been printing wirelessly through my Apple Extreme Router for years now on several machines with no problem, but I can't now. I even took it apart a couple of months ago and fixed it because it was jamming. (I need to tell you that I am a 67 year old woman who is NOT AFRAID of computers, and I have been in love with them probably before most of you were even born...cut my teeth on a Texas Instrument machine around 1980...anyway)  So I tried everything...uninstalled Bonjour printing services, reinstalled it, deleted the printer, reinstalled it, rebooted, nothing...It WILL NOT WORK NOW!!!
THEN... I get the ole.32.dll error that I have been getting for months! This is the reason that I have been trying to find a solution. When I get this error.. File attached, my computer basically freezes, I also get the other error...file attached....then I am unable to shut down my machine. This happened today...SO THEN...I went through the whole thing again with the Windows repair...this time I needed to do a check disk and I did the long one...took hours, but it fixed everything. Then I did another repair...
So then I got back on my printer problem and GUESS WHAT...got the same damm ole32.dll error and started all over again. When I got to the check disk thing, it said I had errors and needed to run check disk again DuH! this time I bolted and came here! I'm disgusted...I'm worse off than I was before...I would really like this corrected. I am going to enclose some logs but the ones before this last crash.

General Computer Support / Windows Repair and System File Check

I am new to Tweaking.com and Windows Repair. I have only a few days ago downloaded and upgraded to the pro version. In going through the first 4 prep and optional steps, my system found corrupt files during the system file check step #4 that "could not be repaired." So I am worried about this and wonder if the program is useless to me now. I originally posted this in the forum specifically for the Windows Repair, but was asked to repost it here. Shane said that it might not make any difference, but to back up the registry so that I can restore if necessary. But I have located the log from that session, and I am wondering if anyone can look at it and tell me what the unrepairable corrupt files mean. Is the Windows Repair program of no use to me now. I am attaching the portions of the log that have to do with the sfc and the unrepairable files. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give...
PS I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and preformed all the first 4 required steps in safe mode with network

I am a new user to Windows Repair...in fact I am stuck on Optional Step 4. The System File Check Found "corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" What should I do? Should I go ahead and run the repair, or what should I do? Thank you/
