Most sincere thanks for your further thoughts; especially in trying to give me confidence to try the fix myself. However, I really am very, very, very cautious about this and feel compelled to find a techi to help me. I don't think this should be difficult so would rather let someone knowledgeable try the steps. Most sincere thanks, stephen

Thank you very much for your guidance. I've tried the Microsoft reinstall option but it hasn't solved the problem. Not being a techi I'm very nervous to try Katy's solution. I need to find someone to help me do what she suggests. Thank you for your guidance so far.

Hi Julian. Most sincere thanks for your effort to help me. I could save to a text file; managed to do what you ask but could only get a picture which I've included in a pdf file. Hope that's ok and you'll be able to help me resolve this. Again, sincere thanks, stephen

General Computer Support / BlackBerry Link and Error 1603
« on: August 22, 2015, 08:55:02 am »
Before the release of v3.4.2 I had been trying to install BlackBerry Link. However, the installation failed everytime shortly after I launched it and the eventviewer showed this to be an error 1603. Subsequent to the release of v3.4.2 I have been trying again to install the software. Now the installation is almost completed but just before the installation is completed it rolls back. Again, the eventviewer shows this as an error 1603. The messages shown during the latter part of the installation move very fast so its difficult to see precisely when the rollback starts to happen. However I think the two preceeding messages before the roll back are "Writing registery values" and then "Installing new services". After that the installation rolls back. I've attached screenshots showing the errors from the eventviewer. I am running Windows 7.
Most sincere thanks for giving this attention, stephen

I've run the latest version of tweaking.com and am getting numerous VSS errors. The even reviewer message states that "A critical component required by the Volume Shadow Copy service is not registered. This might happen if an error occurred during Windows setup or during installation of a Shadow Copy provider."  Any advice or help would be highly valued.
