It is definitely helpful, I was stuck, losing time over slow up/download speeds, but your solution allowed me to finish my report about these property prices in France in time, while I would have been largely overdue if there had been no improvement, or if I had to solve the issue without any external help.

Would it be possible to boot a machine like that using an external HDD that has other things on it apart from the Win10 .iso, or should I use a 16gb stick with nothing else on it?

Yes, you need to reboot and repair the program with the built-in tool, otherwise the repairs aren't going to be done correctly.

Speaking of Windows 8, is official support for it going to be there for a while? I've got a couple computers running Win 8 and 8.1 at work and I'm starting to worry, especially since even Win10 isn't the newest thing out there.
