Microsoft Security Essentials icon missing
« on: October 31, 2013, 08:07:21 pm »
Is there a way to fix the icon so it will show every time the computer is booted up? The icon should be shown in the system tray.

Which version of Windows? Reason I ask is in Vista and newer you can hide any tray icons you want.

At the same time if that isnt the problem the process msseces.exe is what shows the try icon, so make sure it is running :-)

I will check that out. It does not happen all the time. The next time it happens. I will check to make sure. Yes it is running for now.

I have seen the problem on 7 and 8 as well and it was the sspd service doing it. It was doing something that caused the icons not to load, but when I disabled the service the icons would show up fine. Never found out why it did that though and it was random, after a while it would be fine. Seems to be with something in Windows updates causing it.
