Help a novice - SOLVED

Hi

I've been having problems with Windows Update and I was pointed to you.
The resulting message was :
These Files Are Possibly Corrupt (Bad Digital Signature): (Total: 1)
C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Package_39_for_KB3021952~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~11.2.1.0.mum

Problems were found with the packages files, these files need to be replaced (These mainly only effect installing Windows Updates.)
The SFC (System File Checker) doesn't scan and replace some of these files, so you may need to replace them manually.
So what do I do now? And remember I'm a novice so detailed pointers might help!

Shane will need a bit more info, such as which version of Windows you are using.

sorry -it's Windows 7 with SP1. If you need more details please let me know. My system works but this constant reminder that Windows Update won't work is driving me mad.

I use Firefox not IE so not sure what version. I am working from an iPad at present so can't check!

That KB you are having problems with is a security update for IE 11, so you probably have IE 11.

I have attached the missing files, extract the files out of the attached zip file and put them in the C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\ folder.

Then run my pre-scan again, put a check on the box to have it add the cat files back to the database
that's a quote from shane from another post i know how to extract.msu files and get the right  .cat and .mum files like shane does i uploded your the zip just follow what the quote says

it actually was a security update with 11 and 9 i assumed it was 11 and pulled that update look up the update in the microsoft catatlog with ie explorer you will see what i mean  :wink:

Ok I now have some time to do this properly.
The version on IE is 11 but I guess that does not matter too much.
I've backed up the Registry and looked at the registry components of the zip file. But a question is where in the registry do I add them?  as they seem to go in different folders when I open regedit. (see I said a novice)!

okay that registry file I uploaded just right click and hit merge. (that registry tweak will give you the option for you to right click and take ownership of files and folders)


Once that is done go to

i Tried lol I cant get some of the one's that have over 300 + I'm trying to write a program kinda like you did for pulling them and making a data base of them

So lets see what we can do about getting your own file repository built and using my tools (Which doesnt go to anyone else) :wink:
