Marriot Hotel and Starbucks' T-3 internet daily problem
« on: September 15, 2012, 10:31:59 am »
Shane, this problem should be placed at the bottom of your list!  That being said, I would ask of you to help me explain and suggest options of approach to assist the local Marriot Hotel / Starbucks (my morning hangout) engineering department solve an on-going problem of "missing or ignored packets".  They have a valid T-3 line (proven speed is not an issue!).  My daily problem is page loading and internet "resets".  I consistently get 30 to 70 % ping loss to Google.com and any other address I choose.  Frustrating! I must use multiple-clicks for any link(s) I desire to visit.

Question:  What should I tell and/or suggest to these Hotel Engineers to assist in their finding the solution to the daily dilemma?

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and reply to me!!!!

First step is to see if they can reproduce the problem on there end and being wired in and not through wireless.

If the problem only happens through wireless then they need to check to see how the signal is and if something else might be interfering with the signal.

A lot of times it is simply an unstable connection caused by an outside source when it comes to wireless.

If you are connecting through wireless how strong is your signal? And do you have this problem when connected to anyone else?

Shane, the RF signal is very strong., so I don't believe it's an interference issue; But it could be!?!   I have no problems with ANY OTHER wireless connection during the day or night.  I have used THEIR hard-wired computers and there seems to be no problem during the short time I checked the operation.

OK.  So, I need to ask them to do what, exactly?  Insert my computer at the "switch" behind the wireless router I normally use?

Thanks!!!!!

That would at least confirm if the problem is with their wireless
