Registry Compressor Event Log Error 1000
« on: March 22, 2017, 07:48:02 am »
After restarting Windows 10 Pro x86-64 I always see this in my event log.  I don't get any error message other than this one.  Is there a fix for this?

Is this program in your Start-up menu in Task Manager ?

Uninstall/reinstall Registry Compressor to see if you still get the error - or just uninstall it.

I used to use Winmend Registry Defrag in Win 10 but it took over as the default defrag program and I was unable to select Defrag and Optimization, so out that went.

As your error has an Access Denied 05 code then there may be some sort of conflict.

It's not on any run list.  I run it on demand.  I didn't install it.  I guess I used a portable version.

I was indeed using the portable version.  I installed the install version and still get the same error.

If you are getting the error time stamped for when you boot up then there must be something installed.

Can you see anything in Task Scheduler ?

I wouldn't bother with the program as you don't really need it.

I do have your Tweaking.com - Registry Backup in Scheduled Tasks.  Could there be a conflict between the two?  The backup program isn't taking any backups during the times I run the Compressor.  I only take one backup a day when I first power up my machine.

Does that coincide with the time stamp of the ID 1000 error ?

It appears so.  The error happens when Wndows starts up after a compress.

It would seem that the back up isn't too keen on trying to back something up when it is being compressed.

The Scheduled task is set to take a backup the first time I start my machine and no more until the next day.  The compressions I've done were after this backup.  I'm sure the backup job runs just to see if it needs to take a backup.  This might be a problem.  I'll disable the scheduled task before I do another compression and see what happens.

BTW.... How come Shane doesn't seem too involved in this forum like in the old days?   Surely he has the definitive answer to all problems relating to his programs.

I don't see Registry Compressor in Shane's list of programs.

If that is from another source then Shane wouldn't be responsible for any conflicts.

The program is checked on Windows versions rather than against other programs.

Got it - I was just looking in the primary list in the left pane without clicking on the programs link in the pane above.

I'll pass this onto Shane but don't know if/when there will be a response.
