Windows 10 and Store Apps Will NOT Update (SOLVED)
« on: April 05, 2017, 07:56:11 pm »
Hi. I am facing a very interesting issue:  Whenever I try to update Windows 10, or any Windows store app, I am thrown an "error 0x80070001".  I've tried a repair install, I've tried the Windows Repair software, both did NOT solve the issue.
I've attached screenshots of the error messages I get. Note that the updates listed are just the most current updates at the time that I am posting this.  I get that error for any and every update.
Also, I should mention, the following file is reported as corrupt in the pre-scan tool of the Windows Repair Software:
C:\WINDOWS\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-TestRoot-and-FlightSigning-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.15063.0.mum
I already tried to replace that file (directly from the Windows ISO), and it's still reporting as corrupt.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm running the latest build of Windows 10 (15063.14).  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can you try rolling back to 1607 and see if you get the same problems.

I think you should try with a new Windows 10 profile. I think your Windows 10 profile might have gone corrupt. I have found one link which may help you. Just try adding new profile and delete .bak file. Refer this website:- http://www.howali.com/2017/04/youve-been-signed-in-with-temporary-profile-windows-10-fix.html

Sorry for the (absence and) delayed response.  After MANY days of trial and error, and MUCH research, I FINALLY found the cause of the issue.  It was a VERY old piece of software I was using, called Virtual Floppy Drive (VFD, for short).  It's based on an old version of ImDisk (I believe this software uses version 2.1), which older versions are known to cause the EXACT issue that I was facing (at least with the Creator's Update, thus far).  So my solution is to disable the Virtual Drive and unload the driver whenever I need to use windows update and/or update store apps.  I hope this helps anyone who might be facing the same issue that I was.

Here's where I finally found my solution (this is a Feedback Hub link, so It will only work in Windows 10): https://aka.ms/H08cjk
