Windows Update and Notepad = Lost txt data
« on: March 15, 2022, 06:50:38 am »
Windows 10 updates cause constant TEXT data loss.
Current Default setting "Force restart" after update!
If I have open WINDOWS NOTEPADS with unsaved text, it ignores this and can close any number of note-taking windows with unsaved text data.
How to turn OFF the default AUTORESTART FOR ETERNALITY?
Necessary help for the Polish Operating system (not English!)

As i haven't seen a AUTORESTART FOR ETERNALITY in my English Windows Update settings, perhaps you should post your problem on a Polish computer help forum.

A quick fix is a registry script.
The script works on any system.
I just can't find such a script.
Alternatively, you can find a "TOOL" that will do it in no time: ON / OFF function
Windows 10 IS THE WORLD'S WORST SYSTEM, I can't find features similar to Windows 7, or it forces you to reboot Windows 10 while I'm not at my computer, it's the dumbest thing I've ever known.

There are options in Windows Update to determine when to reboot which will give you time to save your Notepad texts.

Restarting also causes all apps and other things to close - so this is the most annoying thing about this crappy Windows 10
I want my computer to run 7/365 because it is designed for it.

You do not know help here, maybe you do not have enough knowledge to help in some matters.
I searched many sites and found the disable command
reg add "HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WindowsUpdate \ AU" / v NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers / t REG_DWORD / d 1 / f

A reboot is required to effect updates so you should close all other applications before rebooting and I have yet to experience an automatic reboot unless I have left the machine.

It knows your normal working hour and it wouldn't normally reboot within those hours.

This is on an English system - perhaps Polish is different which is why I suggested that you post on a Polish computer help website, but as usual, after further digging you have found your own solution.

If you had done that first before posting then you wouldn't have wasted my time.

You're right I won't even buy a Professional tool, because it will never work on Polish, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Norwegian, Swedish, German, Russian and many other non-English systems.

WR currently supports German, Italian and French languages.

BTW - If you remove another Karma point from me without good reason, then I will ban you - Final warning.
