XP Slow Issues
« on: January 19, 2013, 11:18:54 pm »
Hi Shane, some questions for you.

1. Going from window to window or escaping, this is slow.
2. Navagation around the computer can be slow e.g. opening documents.
3. Email slow when opening and closing and navigation.
4. Saving documents is also slow
5. Sometimes i have to re-click on the website or website page for it to open, either doesn't open or very slow.

Thanks again

How much memory do you have installed and if you open task manager how many processes are running?

All of those require the hard drive. If the hard drive is old and or dieing then your system will get slower and slower.

Have you ran any speed tests on the drive to see how it is doing.

Thanks Evan / Shane

How do you recommend to do the speed test?

Others seem to be doing better since running the updates.

There are some free ones you can find. Also use my free drive speedometer and when your system is running slow you can see how much the drive is in use :-)

Hi, There is a fix in msoft. It is called BOOTVis. Try to download it from msoft site and install it. When installed open it select trace, and click bootup+otherdelay, the window will close and then starts. Allow bootvis to rectify the delay. Again restart the windows, the result will be showing in tick marks as two items. Then once again start windows and you could see the better performance. Pl report any improvement, if any in this. Bootvis will arrange the boot order such a way that it boots faster and giving maximum performance. For me it worked.

The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Hi,   I forgot to tell one thing
After tracing the boot delay, the computer will be rebooting. Allow reboot. After reboot, go to all programs , bootvis, and open it , go to trace menu again, and  select optimize boot. Then it will give 2 ticks, Then reboot and your computer performs well.

Bootvis is a great program, but it is geared more towards booting. This person's trouble seems to be more about using the system after it boots. Granted using Bootvis might shed some light on memory use. We first need to check memory load and then also check the condition/speed/caching of the HDD.

Hi, evans thanks for the reply. Ccleaner' speccy defragging problem would somehow improve the performance. Other than these, Shans recommended fix, like malwarebytes, mbar.exe, tdskiller, would be enough to do the tricks. Try these
