Mobile phone as a modem via USB

(1/4) > >>

Hi there
As my Bluetooth is not an option, I would like to know where the advance settings are in Windows 8 to set the mobile phone as a modem via a USB cable.
A mate has given me some lines to add via AT command line;

Add this as an extra AT command, perhaps found in modem advanced settings menu:     +cdgcont=1,"IP","telstra.internet"
Set dialled number to:  *99**1*1#
Leave username and password as blank

If it had been XP, I may have know where this went??
Any help  appreciated.
thanks

Peter

You should be able to, you will just need the right app on the phone for it

Here is one way

To add further frustration to the saga,
My mobile is an old style

As we are Nomads -travelling around Oz, and on a limited income, having a basic phone with a cheap service option makes alot of sense.

This phone cost me $60 (au) new.
It rings, I can talk to people, and send SMS.

I have a similar one which is older and has an external aerial jack. Use this phone when in remote locations, coupled to our large 6db antenna.
This antenna is what we use for our WiFi and router.

Well that does make things harder.

If it worked with bluetooth before then your only option may be to go back to your old operating system since there isnt any proper drivers for that machine.

I hate to say that, but the options are really limited.

No - never had Bluetooth on our old PC desktop - a Windows XP unit.
I use to plug (USB) mobile into PC, start software and Bingo, connected
Phone then was a ZTE unit

This phone now is a Samsung and Samsung do a software called  New PC Studio for windows 8 - but installed on my laptop - it comes up with an  error.
NPSMain error ?

If I could get this to work, would be good as the GT Samsung has Studio already in the phone.
Do you know what the error message means?
does this still need Bluetooth?
