Mobile phone as a modem via USB
peter915:
I found a fix on the Microsoft site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2830154#appliesto
I downloaded the Hotfix and installed it - as it was installing it came back and said it was not for this machine???
It says for Windows 8 ... mine is Windows 8 ???
So what gives
I also did the regedit fix
I now can plug the USB into the PC from phone and no error message appears on the PC.
My phone shows a PC icon on the screen - but there is no connection?
any ideas??

You are still going to need the right drivers for the phone no matter what. And so far it looks like they dont have Windows 8 drivers for that phone.

As an update - I ended up going around this problem - we use a USB modem for our main Wifi connection through a Dray tek router.
Someone suggested I simply take the Sim card out of my phone and put it in our USB modem.
So easy - why didn't I think of it before.
The modem now connects to the phone provider and accesses the 3 gig of data.
Now I have another issue, regards Port Forwarding but I must put that question over on the other forum.
