Mobile phone as a modem via USB

<< < (3/4) > >>

Shane:
The phone will have drivers of its own.

SO just like when I plug in my S3 phone, windows needs the drivers for it.

Which should be in the software fot the phone on this page

The only software at the Samsung site is the PC Studio thing, which loads up and then faults. (common - if you ask Google)

I have tried uninstalling it after I had the Toshiba manager program working and then re-installed the Samsung PC thing - it then loaded slightly better with no error message, but just hangs - like its looking for something - main GUI screen is loaded but no function - just hangs.
Use the 3x keys to kill it.

I firmly believe its a USB driver issue.

I may have a resolve in a weeks time, as another old style phone - I have ordered a USB cable for  - another Samsung but older model,(this one has an external aerial port, which is usful for remote locations - which is why I brought it - we don't all live in areas with mobile phone coverage) the cable will come with it's own USB drivers - so they may help.
Just seems like MS have stopped supporting this method as I suppose WiFi is the norm??

The usb drivers will be for the phone. I wonder if they made Windows 8 drivers yet for that phone?

I now have a working version of Samsung PC Studio - ver 7
This works and looks for the mobile and locates it - using Bluetooth. USB cable not working.
The PC Studio asks to have a Password set between the PC and the phone.
How do I know or set the Password in the phone.
PC Studio says I can make the PW anything I like.
I put the same in the phone and it makes no difference.
Getting close now
PC Studio 7 located here

Shane:
I never used PC studio so I have no clue on what it needs or how to set it up.

Did the help file with it not help on giving any info?
