Hi Shaun
Thank you for getting back to me.
No positive news.
I ran your Windows repair, did a scan now and disc check.
I even downloaded Windows 10 and IE11 worked, but do not like W10.
The only thing I thought was to download Windows 7 or restore to a date before 12/07/15 but I cannot go that far back. Any help with these suggestions or any other ideas?
Thanks again
Adam

If you can put your system back to 7, then what i would do is get a hold of a Windows 7 with SP1 disk and then do a repair install on it

The problem I've found when doing a repair install on an OEM machine with a Win 7 SP1 ISO is that invariably the COA sticker key will only work if it's the same as the vendor's generic key which Belarc Advisor will display.
While this will activate and Windows will update and run as seems normal, when you go Start, type activate windows and press enter, it will return that it is an invalid key.
I don't know if this will incur a prompt after 30 days, but that generic key will prevent an upgrade to Win 10 as Windows will see it as a not genuine install.
If the machine came with Win 7 Pro pre-installed, then perhaps backing up personal stuff and performing a factory reset would be a better option.
Shane:
Windows 7 activates automatically because of the slic table id in the bios, the cert file installed on the system and the key code that is used (It isnt the one on the sticker). When all 3 match up the system is activated.
So when doing a repair install a user can use the same key code to install, but a lot of times the repair install still picks up the key and cert file because it isnt a fresh install, a repair install is an upgrade to the same version. It is also not hard to change the key and put the cert file back on the system after a repair install and it will be activated again without using the key on the sticker :-)
