Unsure what to do. 3 days & nearly 4hrs ago, I downloaded WR21Free in Safe Mode with conx, & ran as Admin'.
It appears to still be working & last log message says 'Starting Repairs . . . Started at (20/02/2022 4:08:17 PM)' , but seems to be taking an extraordinary amount of time!
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, approx' 9yrs old.
Date/time is State of Victoria, Australia.
I'm loath to stop it or shutdown, for fear it maybe incomplete & further destabilize system.
Appreciate advice. Pls don't email, as unable to access at mo'; password saved & auto connects on laptop, & can't remember password to chk direct with server online on my mbl phone!
I'm usually able to troubleshoot most stuff myself, as a 61yo above average user, but not used this before & couldn't find anything to help in forums or FAQ.
Thanks,
Cate :-)

Boggin:
You can stop the repair program but when it takes that long, something else is usually adrift.

Stop the program then open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter chkdsk /r

Follow the prompts for it to start on the next reboot.

Primarily you are looking to see if it reports any kbs in bad sectors.

If that comes back clean then enter sfc /scannow

Let me know what each reports.

Enter exit to close the cmd window.

Thank you for responding so quickly Boggin, I'll give that a try now & let you know :-)

Okay.

Ok Boggin, I stopped the repair program in safe mode, then set up chkdsk /r from C prompt as Admin', and it ran on reboot.  Completed all 5 sections without reporting any issues.

From C prompt with Admin' ran sfc /scannow, with the following response:
[ Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.  Details are included in the CBS.Log ]
I found file ie C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log, changed permissions to allow access, and saved; see attached.

I will be travelling all day today.  It is 9.30am Thu 24 Feb here now, and won't be able to check back for at least 12 hours.

Thanks for your help,
Cate :-)
