How frustrating, I"ve just wasted 40 minutes trying to get the file to send as an attachment, + tried copy & paste to message, and after several attempts, am now running late, so will have to sort tonight.  I even tried sending as personal message!  I could email it, now I appear to have access again.  Will check back in 12 hours.  Cate

Boggin:
You will need to create a Win 7 install disk.

You can download and save the 64 bit version from - https://sites.google.com/view/windows7homepremiumisodownload/home and use Imgburn to create the bootable disk - https://imgburn.en.softonic.com/

When that's done, tap F12 as you switch on, insert the disk and follow the prompts to navigate to the Install screen and click on Repair your computer.

Select Command Prompt and enter bcdedit |find "osdevice"

For clarity that is a Pipe symbol before find which is the uppercase of \

Use your Partition letter instead of the X i have exampled and enter -

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=X:\ /offwindir=X:\Windows

When that has completed, remove the install disk and reboot then perform another sfc /scannow to see what it reports.

Thanks again Boggin.
I've downloaded & saved the ImgBurn file, and currently downloading Win 7 64-bit version, which is a hefty 3GB and very slow!  It's completed 1GB over the last couple of hours, after a couple of fail messages, and claims it will take another 4 hours yet!  No nbn or 4g/5g where I am in rural Victoria, so stuck with a tethered mobile on 3g!!  Fortunately, I had most of my monthly data allowance left, and it auto recharges on the 1st of March, so good timing.
Once download finished and saved, I won't have time to create bootable disk, as going away for the next 4 days to a family wedding.
What's best to use, dvd or cd?  Am I remembering correctly that not advisable to use ReWritable discs?

Boggin:
For 3GB you will need a DVD - CDs typically only have a capacity of 700MB.

I've never used rewritable DVDs but I wouldn't think it would matter as long as you have correctly labelled the sleeve for it so as not to reuse.

Hope the wedding goes well.

Hello again Boggin!
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you; the wedding went well but a member of my party was taken to ED the next morning with suspected heart attack, which ended up being a massive hiatus hernia, and I had to stay nearby to support and take home when discharged.  Upshot being I didn't return home until yesterday.

So having already prepared to follow process, I proceeded to create the Win 7 install disk; all good!
Then F12 while booting, but wrong options came up ie just the boot order.
Restarted and tried F8 as sure that's where I'd seen Repair your Computer option, and it was.  Inserted disc, selected Command prompt & entered first instruction, then entered sfc instruction, and off it went.
Sadly, it returned the exact same message as previously ie Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.  Details are included in the CBS.Log.  I accessed the log and saved file.

Removed disc, rebooted and performed another sfc /scannow as instructed, from Command prompt with Admin', in normal not safe mode.
Again, it returned the same message, and when I tried to bring up the log file, it advised 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.'

Rebooted again, and successfully accessed log file.
Hoped it would send as attachment this time, as previously wouldn't, but no such luck :-(
Await further instruction and thank you for your time.
Cate :-)
