CHKDSK and SCAN NOW both came out OK.  Think I'm good.

WR Advanced tabs (see previous attachment)  What do you advise I run in them?

Tom -  this is exasperating. Ran chkdsk /F in normal mode:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.

C:\Users\GLW>chkdsk /f
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) N
C:\Users\GLW>exit

Next, ran in Safe mode, not from USB.  See attached, which is a .pf and I can't read.
Advanced tabs (see attached)  What do you advise I run in them?
Thank goodness system is running fine in spite of all this.  Gary

Tom - please excuse the delay in responding.  Not truly wanting to reinstall o/s, I ran some more scans.  Then did a Tweaking reinstall, and it got past opening screen.  Ran in safe mode, w/o battery, and All steps.

Got errors on chkdsk.  On reboot reran with/F.  Also got errors Repair Reparse Points or Repair Environment Variables tools, and ran fixes.  (attached).  Then, on main repair it seemed to stop and reboot to normal b4 I thought it had ended.  As I now have Pro version I was not able to use the last 2 tabs.  What would you recommend checking in Pro tabs?

I am selective on check-marked Service, either because I don't use some services like MS Firewall, or because I don't want some services put back to default (attached).  Please tell me if I'm wrong.

I want you to know that Tweaking.com is so well written for the consumer.  Please share with developer.
Only comment is that "Open in Safe Mode" also shows while already in safe mode.

Regards.  Gary

Both on same thumb drive.  Are you saying I should I put them on separate thumb drives?
7601.24214.180801-1700.win7sp1_ldr_escrow_CLIENT_ULTIMATE_x64FRE_en-us(1)  5.47 GB
Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool-Installer-en-US(1) 2658 KB

Not quite clear on last message.  Use the Installer to boot to E: drive with Win 7, or use the Win 7 disk?

I have the product key.

Both files successful to thumbdrive.  Also... No go with Recuva app for CleanMgrScripts\Google Chrome Cache 1 (For Each User Profile).dat;  other anomalies... Component Services - Sys Application blinking (attached);  Sys Properties - If F: drive (external HDD) is off, usually it shows OFF (attached); System does not recognize USB extended storage DVD, and won't read disk in D: drive; and more.  Don't remember if I included CBS Log (attached).  Bottom line, I think you are right about a reinstall.  B4 going back to instructions on your October 25, 2021, 03:35:57 PM post, will I lose all data?  This is a fine mess I've gotten myself into.

- Fantastic.  I  appreciate your patience and clarity.
- Will I lose all data on install?
 - Are you saying FULL Start-up options should include another "repair" option other than Startup repair?
- I'll download and wait for your reply re: data loss, before proceeding.
- Not getting notifications in spite of box being checked, nothing in SPAM, and correct address.  I'll just check back periodically.

Shane, Boggin, Julian - I know I must be dense, but I can't even figure out how to get around on the forum.  No login screen or box comes up first time.  How to I find my topic without going down the long list?  The layout is beyond me (not all replies show).  How am I suppose to ask questions like this without starting a new topic?  I'll understand if you just give up on me, but I do like to app.  Okay, have at me.

I know there were 3 responses, but only see the 1 below from Boggin.  The only "repair" showing after F8 is Startup Repair.  I do not have a Win7 disk.  Drive E: on hdd is the Windows sys.  Did a restore but Tweaking gave same errors.  I hate it when I screw up.  What would you suggest?  Sorry gentlemen.

Got this during checking files:
Missing File: CleanMgrScripts\Google Chrome Cache 1 (For Each User Profile).dat
Missing File: CleanMgrScripts\Google Chrome Cache 2 (For Each User Profile).dat
Missing File: CleanMgrScripts\Google Chrome Cache 3 (For Each User Profile).dat

I neither use nor want Chrome on my system. Period.  Couldn't find an uninstall.  I've taken steps to remove anything with Chrome through search.  Presently, is shows only in Bitdefender, though system recreated an ibd folder and metadata file.

This happened in safe mode also.  Please advise so I can run the app.  Thanks.

Shane, can you offer any input?

Everything Else / 7z in scan logs
« on: February 29, 2020, 02:00:23 am »
1. Many times "7z" shows in a scan log.  ex:   Decompressing & Updating Windows Permission File C:\Program Files (x86)\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One)\files\permissions\7\hku.7z   What are all the 7z?      Done,  0.28 seconds.
2. If a reported Repair is only :01 or :02, is a repair actually happening?
Thanks.
