Hey Shane

Can you take a look at this for me. Under hardware detail it shows some degraded status?

Everything Else / Thanks

I don't think I've told you but, cu-does on the registry back up program (and all your other ones too). It sure makes for another great back up in the event you need it and it's easy and fast.  Great job Shane, and to make it free, you really have gone above and beyond. Thank you.

Tweaking.com Support & Help / Registry Back up vs System Restore
« on: July 13, 2012, 07:21:49 pm »
Hey Shane

Registry Back Up works great on my lap top too. I was wondering. Do you think it would be wise to disable system restore now that reg back up works? I have it scheduled to run every night.

Everything Else / Outlook 2010
« on: June 06, 2012, 05:49:30 pm »
Hi Shane,

I recently started using outlook 2010 and it is using about 211 meg of ram. Have you seen this happen before? I leave it open. I just minimize it to the system tray. Cleanmem doesn't even touch it.

Everything Else / File copy programs
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:46:16 am »
Hey Shane

Do you recommend any file copy programs like tera copy (for quicker file transfer), verses letting windows handle it, or are these programs just another form of snake oil?

Everything Else / hard drive monitoring
« on: April 03, 2012, 07:56:21 am »
Hey Shane,

I'm using acronis hard drive monitoring program. s.m.a.r.t information stopped working for my c drive but works for all my other drives. So I switched to crystal disk with same results (I used to be able to monitor the c drive). I checked this in the bios and s.m.a.r.t is enabled and I ran the test in bios and is working fine. Looks like windows isn't getting information anymore for my c drive. Any Idea what could possibly be wrong.

Hi Shane

Does the windows 7 only tweaks work for vista (since they are so closely related)?

Hi Shane

Have you ever tried this, or know someone has? I'm curious if this really makes opening applications snappier. I got 3 gigs of ram with a 428 pagefile size (set static). Trying to tweak further.

Under system failure my options will not stay in effect. Is there some registry setting to fix this? Here is the screen shot.

General Computer Support / Welcome Screen
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:49:27 pm »
Hi Shane

My PC is slow to load at the welcome screen. I've recently removed Microsoft Security Essentials and loaded Avast 7. Do you think it could be Avast slowing it down or should I update Nvidia drivers?

Still using Advanced System Tweaker and all is well. When are you planning on updating it and releasing it from beta?

Everything Else / avast
« on: February 27, 2012, 12:18:22 pm »
Hi Shane

Is the paid version of avast better than the free version? So far I think the free version is great! Also is the paid version heavier on resources?

Everything Else / Recovery partition

Hi Shane,
Can I clone my hp recovery partition to an external drive, then delete the recovery partition and expand my c drive? I'm using vista and I have the full version of macrium reflect installed for images and disk clones.

Everything Else / Services
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:39:45 pm »
Hey guys

When you set a service to manual does windows still load it at boot up, and on the flip side of that, if a service is disabled, does windows load that at boot up? Most of the services I don't use are set to manual. I'm curious if windows is still loading them, just not using them.

Hi Shane
Does the free version of Avast have realtime protection with it(auto definition updates). I'm currently using MSE, which is pretty good on system resources. How is Avast on resources compared to MSE?

I was also going through my services and this one was set to automatic. I changed it to manual. I looked at black vipers site but I still don't have a clear understanding of what it does. Do you?

Everything Else / Scans
« on: January 15, 2012, 04:43:09 pm »
Shane

I have MSE, SuperantiSpyware (paid), and Malwarebytes(paid). I've been running full system scans (at different times of course) once a week for all three. Is this required or overkill?

Hi Shane

Thanks for adding services and task scheduler to the main drop down window in programs. I see registry editor is there too. Could you add msconfig on next update? Will this self update when it's open?

Good job with this!
