Currently the Tweaking.com symbol at the top of the forum pages links to the forum itself. Can it be changed to link to the Tweaking.com homepage ?

@Mongrelnet: Try the new WR version (v1.9.10) and report back if it solved your problem.

Look at the time difference between England and e.g. Los Angelos, San Francisco. (=Pacific Time Zone) and compare that with the time stamp on your latest post.

@Shane + @Dave: Read this as well. It's about the same problem. It seems the Firewall needs some exceptions.

@Dave: When I am correct Shane's timezone is not EST but PT (Pacific Time).
Now I'll REALLY shut up.

« on: February 19, 2013, 07:18:47 am »
I get the same warning. It's the result of a coding error in WR v1.98. One or more pieces of the program code needs to be enclosed in quotation marks. Otherwise the first space in a path name throws WR "off the rails" and then those errorlogs won't be placed in the right subfolder. Instead the errors will be recorded in a file called "C:\Program". See the similarity with "C:\Program Files(x86)\..........." ?

@Dave: I know you have a cyber-appointment with Shane. Nonetheless, I found your problem very interesting. So, I did a little digging. Just want to add my own two cents/weblinks. Perhaps these links help you both to get started.

Did some more testing. Using the "/errorlog" switch makes an empty log file have the size of 2 bytes. But the "2>>" method reduces the length of an empty log file to zero bytes.

I guess it's the result of the way these log files are created. RB system restore uses the "/errorlog" option. Whereas other repairs use the "2>>" method.

Is this language related ? What is the situation on your system ?

This repair creates a number of log files. When I open these files with Notepad then they seem to be empty. But when I click on properties then Windows tells me that these files are 2 bytes in size. And then, I suppose, then won't be considered to empty by WR.

Are there more error messages in SST/SFB ? Then in those cases then the blue rectangular shouldn't pop up at all, as well. Just display the error message.

When you are including those individual visual tweaks (see reply #1 of this thread) in the programcode then I have a number of suggestions to improve the program:

1. Improve the layout of the buttons. It concerns the last tab called "Visual Tweaks". Move the buttons "Back", "Select All" and "Unselect all" to the same spot where those three buttons are located in the previous two sreens/panes. And move the button "Program Default" to the spot where now the button "Select all" is located. Or perhaps there's a better spot for "Program Default" ?

2. When the user hasn't selected any of the four tweak categories and hits "Apply tweaks" then the program should - IMO - say "You haven't selected any tweaks ..................... " before that blue rectangular box ("Status:") appears.

Are you sure YOU didn't make a typing error ? Or did the program that created that folder make a spelling error ?

@Bubba Euler:

Does ReImage come up with a list of files that are damaged and need to be replaced/repaired ? If so, then post that llist here in this thread ? I know it could help Shane to improve the "System Restore" repair job in WR. And I am curious as well.

Perhaps a friend in your neighbourhood/someone online/someone on this forum has the same Windows OS and is able to provide those files for free instead of paying $ 70 for ReImage.

Is there a chance that you bring out a new (improved) version of Simple Performance Booster ?

See reply #13 of this thread

@Bubba Euler:

in WR v1.9.4, in the main repair screen there's a button called "Beta Repairs". Under that button the Beta version of "Repair System Restore" is "hiding".

Did you use "Create System Restore Point" only (see your first post) or did you tick one or more boxes as well ? And which box(es) did you tick ? Can you give more details ?

Can't find "srcore.dll"on my Win 7 laptop except in the "Windows\winsxs\..." folders. Is this a Windows Update failure ?

A number of folks seem to have problems with Piriform's Speccy. So, I refered them to your program Windows Repair.
